Types of Dentures

Immediate Dentures

	An immediate denture is one that is created for patients that are having extractions done and are being fitted for a denture for the first time. The impressions and bite for the dentures are taken days before the extractions. This allows us to process and finish the dentures prior to the extractions. The immediate denture is placed in the patient’s mouth the same day as extractions.  The healing process can take 2-4 months. During this time, as your mouth heals, the swelling goes down and your gums shrink, a soft liner called a tissue conditioner is added to the gum side of the denture for comfort and fit. After about 6 months of healing, a permanent reline will be necessary to insure proper fit and function. In most cases, after the patient’s gums have completely healed a new denture will be made. As the healing occurs, the bone will remodel around the tooth extraction site allowing us more freedom to correct improper tooth alignment and improve your smile.

Premium Dentures

Unlike other laboratories that usually use press packed acrylic which can shrink when processed causing inaccuracies in the fit of your denture, our Premium Dentures are made using the Ivoclar SR Ivocap system. This injection technology is considered the “State of the Art” in denture processing. The accuracy of this process results in a denture that will provide you with the best fit possible. Your new denture will be completely bio-compatible and will not distort taste, stain or collect bacteria like traditional dentures. You can eat, talk, and smile with confidence with your SR Ivocap denture.

We also use several brands of natural, life like nano-composite hybrid teeth that last for many years. Most laboratories only use hard plastic teeth that look like a traditional denture and wear out quickly.

Our variety will give you the ability to choose the smile you want and the confidence to smile knowing that your teeth will look like or better than what you were naturally given, and last a long time. They are also designed to be compatible with implant retained (“All on 4”) or supported (locator abutments) dentures.

Partial Dentures

	Partial Dentures are used by people who only require replacement of missing teeth but still have natural teeth remaining. The partial denture is attached to the remaining natural teeth for support and retention with clasps. Our office provides 3 different types of partials. They are cast metal framework supported SR Ivocap partials, Flexite brand light flexible plastic partials, or SR Ivocap acrylic partials with no metal substructure and wrought wire clasps for retention as needed (often referred to as a “flipper”).

Implant Dentures

	Our Premium Denture can be processed to accommodate new or existing implants using many types of attachments. The most popular is the locator abutment. We also provide the ability to eliminate the need to ever remove your denture again. This process involves placing 4 to 6 implants in precise locations to retain a permanent screwed in restoration. This is referred to as an “All on 4” by Nobel Biocare. A precision milled titanium framework is created to adapt to the implants and the denture is processed around the frame. No metal is seen and the denture will function like natural teeth. It is possible in many cases to also create the entire prosthesis out of Zirconia and Porcelain to eliminate all metal and acrylic. The teeth will look very natural and be very durable.
